Which MP3 settings should I choose?
By default AudioRoo encodes at High (VBR 2), roughly 170–210 kbps, the same setting FFmpeg’s own encoding guide recommends as a good baseline spot where most listeners can no longer tell the MP3 from the source.
When to change it:
For music you want to archive at maximum quality, switch to 320 kbps CBR in advanced mode — the biggest files MP3 allows, and the ceiling of the format. For speech like lectures, meetings, and recorded calls, you can go the other way: 96–128 kbps sounds fine for voice, and switching the channel setting to mono halves the file size again. Leave the sample rate auto detected matching your source (usually 44.1 or 48 kHz), upsampling adds size without adding quality.

What about DRM-protected files?
AudioRoo detects DRM-protected files (like protected M4P purchases) up front and lets you know, rather than failing partway through a batch. Copy-protected content can’t be converted.
